Welcome to Phoenix Ladies A-Cappella Chorus

Lynda Wood, Director
Lynda Wood, Director of Phoenix Ladies
I have always sung be it in the school choir, church choir, stage shows, folk groups, jazz bands and then along came barbershop. When I first joined Phoenix in 1978 I sang Bass and was impressed by the warmth of welcome and the warmth of sound of the chorus. After a very short period of time I began directing the chorus with a little knowledge and a lot of passion. I joined the judging programme and trained in Harmony Accuracy before moving to Interpretation. As my knowledge grew I used my teaching skills to coach other choruses and quartets.
I trained in the International judging programme both in the UK and in the US and became Presentation category director. I have judged and coached in the UK and Internationally. For a number of years I held the position of Chairman of the Education and Judging Committee.I have taken Phoenix to medal position since 1994 in the Ladies Association of Barbershop Singers and have directed them to success in numerous non barbershop contests. I am a quartet bronze and gold medallist .I am married with four children and two grandchildren. I teach full time and direct a sixty strong children’s choir. After a long period of time I am still directing the chorus with more knowledge and a lot of passion.
