RELEASE
PHOENIX WIN CHOIR OF THE YEAR HEAT!
Repeating their 2002 success, Phoenix Ladies
Harmony Chorus from Potton were delighted to
win the Adult Choir competition of the Peterborough
heat in BBC Radio 3's Choir of the Year competition
on Sunday.
In announcing the winners, the adjudicators remarked that "we can all
learn lessons in choir discipline from this choir". Phoenix now wait to
hear how they fare in the overall competition – the next singing stage
will be in February 2005 at The Lowry in Salford. Phoenix were finalists in
Sainsbury's Choir of the Year in 2002 so hope to be singing in February.
This Friday sees Phoenix perform in front of a knowledgeable barbershop audience
at the annual BABS Convention at the International Conference Centre in Harrogate.
Many of the Chorus will be travelling from Potton just for that engagement – there
and back in 12 hours – that's how committed they are!
New members are always welcome at the Tuesday night rehearsals at Potton Lower
School, 7.30 for 7.45 pm. All that is required is the ability to sing in tune
and have a sense of humour as Phoenix is a fun loving group. Contact Viv on
01767 261520 for further information.
