PHOENIX
have triumphed yet again! This time by
winning the Sweet Adelines Regional Chorus
competition, held at the fabulous Birmingham
Symphony Hall. Sweet Adelines is a worldwide
organisation of women singers and has a membership
of over 27,000; including choruses from all
over the USA, Australia, Canada, Sweden and
even Japan. Phoenix decided to join the organisation
to give it a new challenge, hoping one day
to achieve first place so that they could
one day represent the British Isles against
the best in the world at an International
convention. That day has arrived very quickly
following a stunning performance of the beautiful
ballad ‘If I give my heart to you’ and
the vocal and visual extravaganza that is
their ‘Bill Bailey’ medley. They
broke new records by scoring the highest
points in the region ever and will achieve
their dream by taking part in the 2008 International
Convention in Honolulu, Hawaii.
‘FLAUNT!’ a
quartet within PHOENIX doubled the excitement
as they won the quartet
competition, competing against 23 other quartets.
They will be representing the British Isles
in Calgary, Canada, later this year, a fantastic
and well deserved achievement.
