FREE SINGING LESSONS! join PHOENIX for a singing programme that will both educate
and entertain.
This is a 10
week FREE programme commencing on Tuesday
11th September
2007 at Potton
Lower School, Everton Road, Potton, Beds
which will both educate and entertain. (please
see ‘new members’ page for a
location map) No musical knowledge is necessary
but love of singing is essential. The first
5 weeks covers specific areas of a-cappella
singing in the PHOENIX style. These will
start at 8 finish at 9pm. All attendees are
very welcome to then stay to watch PHOENIX
rehearse for the remainder of the evening.
WEEK 1 - a general introduction, basic craft
and an idea of voice range from the Chorus
Director
WEEK 2 – work
with members of the music team to sing,
tune
and understand intervals
WEEK 3 – work
with members of the music team to discover
vocal
range and quality
WEEK 4 - work with members of the music
team to put performance into song
WEEK 5 – to
conclude the specific areas with the Chorus
Director
and section
leaders
During these
weeks both programme attendees and PHOENIX
will learn
a song from scratch.
WEEK 6 – WEEK 10 will involve an invitation
for the attendees to work with the chorus
bringing the new song to performance level.

A new era for PHOENIX !
The chorus are proud and thrilled to have
been accepted into Sweet Adelines International.
One of the world’s largest singing
organizations for women, this highly respected
worldwide organization of women singers committed
to advancing the musical art form of barbershop
harmony through education and performances.
Their moto is "Harmonize the World."
The international membership of nearly 27,000
women, all singing in English, includes choruses
in most of the fifty United States, as well
as in Australia, Canada, England, Finland,
Germany, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Scotland,
Sweden and the Netherlands. There are also
prospective choruses in Denmark, Greece and
United Arab Emirates.
The
organization encompasses more than 1,200
registered quartets and 600 choruses and
is divided into 35 regions. Phoenix are part
of region 31 – Quartet of Nations which
covers England, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland
and Wales.
Phoenix are very excited to be competing
for the first time at the regional competition
on Saturday May 12th at the Birmingham Symphony
Hall, Birmingham. A truly wonderful venue
renowned for its acoustics. For more information
