PHOENIX IN FIRST PLACE AT
PETERBOROUGH CHORAL COMPETITION
Happy
New Year fellow Barbershoppers!
We would like to take the opportunity of congratulating the White Rosettes
on winning the Gold Medal and wish them good luck for the coming year.
Phoenix had a super Convention in November: the thrill of competing again and
of course, seeing friends, old and new.
We had been rehearsing extremely hard since coming back from Montreal on our
Convention package and were pleased to be awarded with the Silver Medal. Our
costume committee had been working equally as hard to kit us all out with our
sexy, black & sparkling costumes – well done and thank you - we all
felt really good and received loads of flattering comments.
After our busy Convention Weekend, it was straight back to a busy rehearsal
schedule as the weekend following we took part in Peterborough Choral Competition. We
were entered into two classes: Barbershop and Ladies Choir and were delighted
to come away with First Prize in both classes. The adjudicator gave us
an excellent critique, both verbal and written. Both appraised Phoenix
highly and he suggested that the other competing choirs take a ‘leaf
out of our book’ particularly when it came to presentation of the complete
package. An excellent plug for Barbershop – we certainly flew the
flag that weekend!
Well, we have a busy year ahead of us with sing outs and shows and we are particularly
looking forward to singing on the Friday evening show at the BABS Convention
on 28 May in Harrogate. See you there!
